The Wandering Sea (Summer is a Lonely Place)
The “Wandering Sea” series presents subtly beautiful Texas seashell fragments in space-scapes for a surrealist mix of celebration, elegy, and warning. These tiny gastropod remnants are symbols of fertility and the passage of time, as well as homes now absent their soft-fleshed occupants, who are human stand-ins. De-centering the human experience offers opportunities for contemplation of our place in the universe with a reminder that we share the stars. Like Greek constellations, these new celestial bodies carry a lesson: respect the sea, lest its occupants leave.
